Cinnamon Park: Back Catalog Song of the Day

I had this idea for a record where each song would be based on a completely unexpected sampled loop.  For instance, I loved when Jay-Z used "Hard Knock Life" from the musical, Annie.  So when I got my first sampler, I took a bunch of old songs (great and corny)  to see if anything  would inspire story or song.

"Saturday in the Park" by Chicago

I will defend the band to my grave -at least those first couple of records. They were great -even if there were some really suspect lyrics like" " Does anybody really know what time it is? Does anybody really care....about time?"  What does that mean?

While listening to the first four bars over and over, I thought about one great Saturday in the park from my  own life.

I present "The Battle of the Bands" in Genesse Park starring my drunk friend, her sweet but loser brother, and fungi that grows under cow patties.

Here it is: Cinnamon Park

By the way, I did have to share songwriting credit with a very gracious  Robert Lamm (from Chicago...the band)

The song is on my Underdog Victorious record. You can get it...here
